DJ´s Bait in the Box # 35

[This charming tin belongs to Elizabeth, Thoughts from an Evil Overlord]

The first in a not quite new British series which was made into a TV series some years ago.

“Minor who has run away from home?” Anna asked resignedly.
“Not so fast, young lady,” Brierly said reproachfully. “No, actually it is not a minor. The daughter in question was 22, and has not disappeared but is dead. And she has been so for a month. She had a car accident late one night and hit a concrete column. At Cranford Lane, near the airport.”

The Rules:
If you recognize the quotation, or if you think you are able to guess who wrote it, please post a comment. Just leave a hint, do not spoil the fun by giving too much away. The book will be reviewed on Friday as usual.

I suspect a nominal connection with one of the legendary figures of the American Old West.

The author has a French sounding surname? Not sure of the title though.

I have dredged this information from the deep recesses of my failing memory [and googled to confirm] the connection with bison?

I swear I read lots of crime fiction, but I'm becoming notoriously bad at this game! :) Maybe visiting 'Thoughts from an Evil Overlord" will give me a clue...

Philip: absolutely right.

Karen: I don´t think you would see this name as French

Uriah: yes, I can see that.

Elizabeth: it might, but she is not nearly as criminal as she sounds.
