New Year - New Plans

I have not spent my time today looking back, but forward. So far, I have only joined two challenges, but when/if I feel certain I can handle them, I may join one or two more. If you know of any that focus on crime fiction, please tell me.

In a few days my krimiblog will have its first anniversary. My plans are not definite yet, but there will be at least two giveaways (probably one European and one worldwide).

My 2010 Global Reading Challenge is alive and thriving (participant no 39 ticked in while I was writing this), and I am so excited to see when the first reviews will be there!

Dorte - Thanks for hosting the Global Reading Challenge. What a wonderful opportunity to learn about books from all over the world. I love your picture, too, by the way.

Happy 2010 Dorte. If you'd like to pop over to my blog I've made special mention of you in my version of the New Years Honours List.

Great minds think alike Dorte, although I can't sing.
Deon Meyer and Leighton Gage are on my list as well, and I have read the excellent Simone Van der Vlugt.
I don't usually like challenges that turn a pleasant past time into hard work, but your Global Challenge, and Kerrie's Crime Fiction Alphabet are turning out to be fun.

I'm glad you are considering Leonardo Padura a possible pick although in my geography Cuba is in North America. Anyway I will not argue with you again about this minor point, if you finally choose one of his books it doesn't matter were you place him, Northern, Southern, Central or the Caribbean. Once again I'm delighted with your challenge, great fun and quite impressive the number of followers. Congratulations.

Margot: thank you. The challenge was just some spur-of-the-moment thing (inspired by one of Craig´s posts), but I agree that it was one of my better whims :D
Can you find me in the picture, by the way?

Petty Witter: I am so honoured that I have had an award FOR MY FICTION! If people read what I write that must make me some kind of author.

Norman: Thank you. I certainly intended the challenge to be for fun which is why I made three levels and as few restrictions as possible.

Jose: oops! Once more I have displayed my overwhelming ignorance about geography. I have removed Leonardo Padura from this post (but I promise he is still on my wish list).
It will be interesting to see when the first global challenge reviews are posted, and which continents they are from.

I've got Leighton Gage on my list for South America too Dorte - might use the library for that one.

I've already started my first book for the challenge - only problem is that it's set in Turkey which is the one country that is partly in Asia and partly in Europe so I'm not sure where to count it :)

Dorte H sagde ...

Bernadette: I am aware of the Turkey problem, but knowing you, I am sure you will find the solution that is most challenging :D

I have picked Peter Temple from my TBR so now I will go to bed with my first ´global read´.

Happy New Year Dorte and a special thank you for your kind comment left on my most recent post. I also want to thank you for all the comments left in 2009. I don't think blogging would have been quite the same without comments and I love each and everyone I get. I look forward to a lot more blogging and reading and commenting in 2010.

Dorte H sagde ...

Louise: thank you!
Yes, I know how much comments mean. And I remember how much you encouraged and supported me when I began blogging here a year ago!

See you around!

Happy new year to you! So glad we connected. I still need to officially sign up for your world challenge.

Dorte H sagde ...

Beth: thank you! And I am so glad you are really going to join my challenge!
All these imaginative challenges is one of these aspect of blogging I didn´t know the least about a year ago. The most important thing is all the great friends, however!

Kerrie sagde ...

Dorte, I too need to say thank you for planning the challenge and putting it into effect. I'm not going to plan much (Until I run out of books or get close to needing a new one) - however I have plans for Antarctica because I think they will be hard to find! The library has the BLOOD and ICE one, and another "graphic" crime novel I'm going to try (shudder, shudder - I don't like graphic novels much)- you might want to see if you can find BLIZZARD by Tom Keneally - the blurb seems to say it fits the bill.

Dorte H sagde ...

Kerrie: I did it for my own sake most of all, and I think it is quite a success that we have 45 participants in a brand-new challenge.

With regard to Antarctica I suppose you have seen the link to the EuroCrime post with several suggestions?
