DJs Bait in the Box (Gæt en bog) # 2

This quotation comes from the first page of the book so even though it may look like a spoiler, it is not.

"Killing someone feels odd to me and I haven´t quite sorted it through. I´ve already given a statement to the police, which I initialed page by page and then signed. I filled out a similar report for the office files. The language in both documents is neutral, the terminology oblique, and neither says quite enough."

The rules:
If you recognize the quotation, or if you think you are able to guess who wrote it, please post a comment. Just leave a hint, do not spoil the fun by giving too much away.

I am stuck on this one. I feel I should know it, but don't. So I will just have to wait patiently for the game to progress!

Ok this seems familiar. I think I've read it. If the title comes to me, I'll be back to post.

Hi!
Haven't got a clue! You asked me if The Body in The Library was Miss Marple. Yes it is, I don't like Hercule Poirot too much myself, but love Miss Marple. She has a really keen mind! Thanks for stopping by my place. Have a great day!!

Trying again. 1930s English author who wrote under a pseudonym and was filmed by Hitchcock. A wild guess.

Not quite as old as that, Norman.
And I think Beth may have an advantage this week.

Anonym sagde ...

Ah - I must confess I know this one, which is surprising as I've never been particularly good at strict ordering of anything.

Hi Dorte,

I'm sorry I haven't visited your blog yet! I must have just missed your post in the first week, and I haven't gotten to all the blogs in the second week yet (I'm way behind!). But yes, you're definitely in the project and I am so glad!

Karen, I am sure Norman would like if you gave him just a slight clue of some kind :)

I think I have it: let's see, how not to give it away? The quotation is from the first book in a series.

BTW: I have an award for you at http://bfishreads.blogspot.com/2009/01/award-lets-be-friends.html

Dorte H sagde ...

Beth: Thank you so much for the clue and the wonderful award!

Kim: I really appreciate that I can be a member of your wonderful blogging university. Participating in the Blog Improvement Project really forces one to use one´s imagination :)

No clue, but the book sounds interesting :-)

I don't think this is a give-away clue - "nail scissors"

Uriah Robinson sagde ...

You are right Mack it is not a give-away.

Anonym sagde ...

I'm still stuck, though the sentences are familiar. These clues are very good on not giving anything away!

Dorte H sagde ...

Mack: what an elegant hint ;)

Hmmm, comments are trailing off. One last clue from me:

LBD

Uriah Robinson sagde ...

I am a beaten man the Danish question and the American clues?? have defeated me.

Mack sagde ...

The answers to my clues are:
Kinsey Millhone in Sue Grafton's detective novels cuts her own hair with fingernail scissors and owns one dress, her little black dress or LBD. I think these features of Kinsey are mentioned at least once in nearly all the books, at least the ones I read before I stopped for some reason.

Thank you Mack for playing along. I think you enjoyed this week´s bait, and I can assure you that I did.
But who know who will be the lucky guys who are ´in the know´ next week??
