Last week: our ´own´ church.
This week: the church near our cottage
(under repair, hence the boarded windows)
The ´Lego church´ as our irreverent daughters call it.

Oh that´s a very speciel church too. Especially the churchtower! Never seen anything like it! What a wiev from the top!
Bente: yes, it is special, and it does not really look like anything else in Thy. I am sorry they are renovating it right now, but I thought it was a good idea to show it right after our own church. This one (in Vorupør) is fairly new, but due to all the salt in the air they are changing the bricks from top to toe already. So really they should have a whitewashed church in this area (which all the old fishermen could have told the architect ;D )
Dorte - That really is beautiful church! I had to laugh, too, at your daughters' name for it : ). There are no lovely buildings like that were I live. The architecture is is quite different - much more "Spanish mission."
I like it! Very atmospheric. Too funny that your daughter thinks of it as Legos. :)

What an impressive church! For some reason--forgive me--I am reminded of Dorothy Sayers' THE NINE TAILORS when I look at the bell tower.

It is rather charming, I can see that, but by Danish standards it is neither old nor indigenous. It looks like a tiny, modern copy of some Copenhagen church which is why my daughters make fun of it :D
I like the "lego" church...quite lovely!
The big "downtown" churches in our area are modeled on classical forms of architecture like Greek Revival, Gothic, etc.
Oh Dorte...I really fancy the way the name Vorupør is pronounced in the local dialect...And you are right..red bricks isn`t a good choice in that part of Denmark!
Kelly: I can see this one must be very different then.
Bente: no, someone should have told that architect off :D
Lovely. I especially like the first one. I enjoyed reading the comments about the church and the salt damage.
Beth: it is a pity with the boarded windows, but I tried to find some motives that were not just white. I thought my readers might be tired of snow drifts.
