July Reviews

- a bit belatedly, but we had a wonderful day yesterday with some old friends (I will show you some evidence the next many Thursdays).

Readingwise, July has been a poor month with only six reviews, and one book I gave up on.

The one I did not finish was Sarah Waters, Night Watch. Hardly her fault as the characters and language are really fine, and I am sure I would have found a great story about the past of the characters if I had persevered. After 100 pages I put it away, however, because I just found it more interesting to work on my own little mystery.

Writingwise, July has been fantastic. I have finished editing a Danish novel and planned a new novel, written down a two-page plot plus descriptions of all the main characters and the setting. Besides, I have written eighteen thousand words on my English project, The Cosy Knave.

good that you've got lots of writing done Dorte - and 6 books read and reviewed is not to be sneezed at.

Dorte - I am so happy for you that you got so much writing done : ). That's wonderful! And I am impressed at your review progress; with everything else you are doing, I'm in awe.

Kerrie: thank you. Two years ago I wouldn´t have counted at all, but now six books do not seem like very much.

Margot: I am really doing my best to remember my priorities: writing fiction comes first!

Congratulations on your writing progress. I think July just went by too quickly to get much done (or at least for me it did).

You may have been disappointed with Sarah Waters' NIGHT WATCH, but I suspect you would enjoy her more recent book, THE LITTLE STRANGER, a well-written neo-gothic ghost story that is quite fascinating.

Elizabeth: I wonder why no one told me somewhat earlier how funny it is to write cozies ;D

Gautami: thank you.

Mason: most months of the year just go by, but for once I have been really good.

R.T.: I am not sure it was fair of me to mention that I gave up on the book, because I have absolutely no good reason. I will remember to try The Little Stranger; even in a translation I can see that she writes brilliantly.

I spent most of July on ONE book!! It was a busy month.

I've heard good things about Sarah Waters books from several folks, but haven't tried any myself.

I'm looking forward to reading "The Cosy Knave" someday!

Kelly: it is good to know I´ll have at least a few readers if I get the book sold :D
