Just playing around

I bought a new programme today that makes it much easier for me to experiment with pictures - and book covers, as you can see.

And as I have promised myself I will be much more professionel when I publish my next volume of flash fiction, it may not be such a bad idea to try to come up with a cover that has some kind of connection with the book (click on the photo to enlarge it).

Not that there will be much liquorice in it - but plenty of twists.

Tell me what you think - will my bait work, or do I need chocolate?

The cover looks great to me Dorte.

Dorte - Oooh, yum! The licorice got my attention! And I do love the play on words. What a clever idea :-).

Thank you, José.

Margot: twists are probably what I do best ;) - and personally I prefer liquorice to chocolate.

I'm a licorice girl myself and I love twists, so it looks great to me. :P

I prefer licorice but most people here probably like chocolate more.

I like both, though neither is my favorite (I like caramel and vanilla).

I think the cover is great, however, and works perfectly with the theme (of twists)!

Joanne: liquorice is just the best :D

Patti: well, I am sure a varied diet is good for everyone ;)

Kelly: when you see it on the screen, it is very black-white. On the Kindle screen it turns into grey tones, but everything looks nice and clear. Covers with many colours turn into a blur on Kindle.

I like both licorice AND chocolate - both would work for me. Love that "twists" analogy with the licorice!

I love the cover. Two suggestions (1) could you have the licorice in a shape? Perhaps twisted up like a noose? (2) Make the title and name larger and easier to read.

Will your bait work? Hmmm, depends on your target audience. In my experience, only Scandinavians truly appreciate liquorice. Most of my American friends seemed to consider my Piratos a torture instrument, not a yummy indulgence :-)
Seriously, I love the title and the idea about making a candy noose is brilliant. Perhaps you could hang a chocolate Santa or a gummy bear?

I have no time to toy with liquorice today, but I have added a new picture with larger types. I think this one is much better for thumbnail viewers.

Belle: I thought the candy theme would make it very easy to come up with new, delicious collections ;)

Clarissa: I´ll play with the liquorice when I have time (and some daylight), and you and everybody else are right about the size of the letters.

Jane: torture instruments may not be bad at all; these stories are not as sweet as "Candied Crime".

I am a chocolate girl myself, but liquorice will work just as well (after I get myself an e-reader :-( )
But I do think Clarissa's suggestion is a good one - one shaped llike a noose.

Rayna: I don´t think you can make nooses with these thick ones, but I may try with liquorice laces. Don´t know how to make a noose, but I am sure google does.
