As I know how difficult it is to get this crime novel in Europe and America, I don´t think it is fair to call this a bait post.
"The day it was ordained that Gabriella Knowes would die there were no harbingers, omens or owl´s calls. No tolling of bells. With the unquestioning courtesy of the well brought up, she invited death in.
Death politely showed his identification and explained that there had been a telecommunication problem in the area. He then requested Gaby check her household phone had a dial tone."
Uncanny, isn´t it? This book has been on my wish list forever, and I finally held it in my hand the other day. The quotation is from New Zealand writer Vanda Symon´s debut, Overkill (2007).
I promise to review it soon, but I am a bit busy these days so I don´t know exactly when soon will be.
Visit Vanda´s blog and all her temptations (including a most intriguing cake once in a while).

Looks like a great book...I'll look forward to the review. :)
Dorte - What a terrific couple of lines! I will look forward to your review :-).
Elizabeth & Margot: I am half-way, and I have to know who and why!
Oooo...now THIS teaser really makes me want to read it!!
I've learned that now I can sometimes find things on Kindle that I haven't been able to get a hard copy of. Maybe that will end up the case with this.
Sounds very interesting, thanks!
Too bad it's over $30 on amazon marketplace ... will keep an eye out for it.
Kelly: I believe the series is on its way as e-books, but I am not sure.
Ursula: I know! I have been watching the prices of Vanda´s books for ages.
Read this two years ago, and the opening chapter still sticks with me. A real gut-punch of a start to a debut novel.
Hopefully Vanda Symon's work will start to become more available in the Northern Hemisphere over time.
Craig: yes, I am keeping my fingers crossed that her London agent will find a publisher for her a bit closer to my home.
Freaky! I'd be happy to have the wrong number.
Clarissa: the prologue was a great hook! Terrifying!
