Cover Opinions

You wanted a liquorice noose - and got one.
Comments on these new covers are very welcome.

Furthermore, I need your help with a name.  My poor  Constable Archibald Primrose needs a new name (a less feminine family name). I could change it slightly by calling him Plumrose (which would go well with the general food theme in The Cosy Knave), or I could make up quite a new persona by calling him Constable Archibald Enfield. What do you think?

Thank you for your input; my muse just came up with a compromise:
Archibald Penrose.

I like the covers. If your policeman is a straight arrow, his surname could be Plumbline, which would also keep the food theme.

I remember once watching a movie called "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes's Younger Brother", starring Gene Wilder. In his trademark manic, jealous delivery, he says to his brother: "Sherlock Holmes? Sheer-luck Holmes more like....."

I like the third cover the best.

As for the name. Maybe better to make a complete change than a slight change?

Dorte - I really that top cover. It's clear and really attention-getting!

As far as names go...I like Plumrose. That way you could continue with the character you already have and have imagined. Just my opinion...

I love the noose and love the name Enfield.

A few more suggestions about cover: (1) I love the background of the first but not the noose just hanging loose, it should look like the licorice are hanging.
(2)How hard would it be to turn the licorice into a licorice-stick-man?

I'm sorry I'm so picky!

Oh, and I like the font of the first option the best.

I like the top cover best.

As for the name...Plumrose is good, but I think Maxine's idea of Plumbline is quite clever, too!

I'm going to change my name to Maverick, I think, since I'm the only one so far to pick the second cover. And I think he should have the name Enfield which isn't so distracting and is easy to pronounce.

Thank you for all your input! But I can see I´ll have to make up my OWN mind ;D

I´ll think about it, friends.

Love the covers! I like the top one best, but all are good. Is is wrong that they are making me feel hungry?!

Enfield automatically makes me think of the Enfield rifle, perhaps not the best choice if you want 'Cosy' associations.

Jackie: you SHOULD feel hungry - you should yearn for liquorice twists ;)

Annie: nice to meet you. You have a good point about Enfield, but "The Cosy Knave" is full of funny names so the other constables are Smith, Wesson and Winchester ;)

Last one for me. Love that font.

I don't have any suggestions for the constable, but I LOVE that cover. Sample #3 is my favorite for the noose but I like the font in #4, maybe slightly thicker/bolder.

I like the top cover best I think

As for poor Archibald I'm sorry his name has to change but I guess I can see a point in that it's a bit feminine - I'm sure he can cope but can all the readers? I think I'd stay away from the gun theme as that makes him seem like just another one of the cops instead of the main one. Plumbline? Plumrose? Plummer?

Last one for me too. I like Plumbline.

Patti: that font is also my favourite.

Cathryn: I am afraid I have done my best with the font. I´ll do my best to use it, but I have to consider the thumbnail size.

Bernadette: I am glad you defend Primrose - my daughter also fight for his name. I haven´t made up my mind yet.

Margaret: If I change it, it may be a good idea to use Plumrose or Plumbline because as Bernadette says, I do have readers who feel they know him already.

If the constables have the names of guns and you want to keep a food (chocolate, even) theme, you could go for Magnum?

Dorte H sagde ...

Maxine: Magnum is a great name; I´ll store it for later use though not necessarily *this* constable.
