DJ's Bait in the Box # 7
"He had not needed to worry. When he put the can down on the grass and reached for his lighter, he had used at least half of the lighter gas, and the girls had been too busy chatting to notice anything. He was surprised that the girl´s skirt was smouldering quietly for at least fifteen seconds or more before it finally burst into flames. He was also surprised that she was not the first one to scream ..."

Ooo! Love that tin!
The excerpt...scary...
Blimey, yet another one I don't know! I'm obviously pretty ignorant. I'm sure it isn't Blue Remembered Hills by Dennis Potter, but it reminds me of it a bit. A grim quote, certainly. There are a few crime fiction authors it reminds me of, but I can't put my finger on which, or which book.
I think you both have an idea what sex the writer could be, and what type of crime fiction, however.
A distinctly thorny one for us this time round? And in the spirit of "Bait in a box", plotwise it says exactly what it says on the tin...
Elegant clues ;)
Oh sounds like a sociopath! I'm not sure this one I've read. I'll keep watching for more clues.
Beth, do you mean the author or the perpetrator? ;)
