Thy, a Taboo & a Challenge

I don´t know if this picture is quite ´comme il faux´, but as you know, we have just been driven from our home for weeks, and perhaps some of you would like to see the pretty result?

(Well, Blogger couldn´t handle it and turned it upside down - sorry, Blogger, I am a Scandinavian - we have no restraint)

What´s in a Name Challenge 2011

A reading challenge I am looking forward to is “What´s in a Name 4”, hosted by ´Beth Fish´.
Here are the categories, and I hope I can tempt some of you to participate in this fun challenge.

1. A book with a number in the title                    C.J. Box, Three Weeks to Say Goodbye
2. A book with jewelry or a gem in the title
3. A book with a size in the title                          Sophie Hannah, The Other Half Lives
4. A book with travel or movement in the title     Ian Rankin, Exit Music
5. A book with evil in the title                             Peter Temple, In the Evil Day
6. A book with a life stage in the title.                 Rosanne Dingli, Death in Malta (Kindle)

Number five should be quite easy for a crime enthusiast, and as you can see, I have books on my TBR which can help me through five categories, but perhaps you would like to help me by suggesting some good crime fiction titles for the second category?

I am going to read Diamonds for the Dead by Alan Orloff (who comments at Margot's blog often) for the jewelery one - it was available in eBook for me so I assume it is also available for the Kindle

You could also read Diamond Dove by Adrian Hyland if you have not already done so - it's the first of his Emily Tempest novels (I can even ship a SH copy by snail mail if you want)

Or there was a cute cosy/amateur sleuth book written by Australian author Lindy Cameron called Golden Relic - it's set in a museum and was originally released to coincide with an international curator's convention but I believe it was recently re-released in eBook format

oh and I meant to add...nice bathroom. Is that a proper light over the mirror? I would love that.

It looks amazing! And I know you're so glad the work is done. :) Too funny about Blogger putting it sideways!

Good luck with the challenge...sounds like an interesting one!

Bernadette: three suggestions in one! - I knew I could count on my readers. And a proper light? Eh, yes, I think it is.

Elizabeth: there are many great challenges, but this one with the focus on titles appeals to me particularly.

There has to be something out there in the second category that will work with crime novels.

The bathroom looks great. I don't know why blogger refuses to play nice with your photos. I haven't had any trouble (knock wood).

Sounds like a Fun Challenge. I think I am going to do it too.

And are you sure you should be blaming blogger? I would think you used some software to rotate the picture and didn't save the rotate, so blogger just uploaded as it read it?

Nice bathroom, though.

Dorte - I like your bathroom! And about jewels? Well, Bernadette mentioned the one that I'd have suggested. There's also Wilkie Collins' The Moonstone, or Colin Dexter's The Jewel That Was Ours...

Beth and Rayna: every other programme accepts that the picture has been rotated AND saved, just not Blogger. It often happens when I cut pictures, especially if I change the ratio.

Margot: I am sure we have the smartest bathroom in Thy - and when I took the photo, it was also the cleanest. Well, that was then.

Good suggestions, but I have read both of those.

I love the clean, crisp look of your new bathroom!!

That challenge looks fun, too! I might have to sign up for that one as well! After all, I'll have a whole year to read all these books.
:)

It's not exactly a jewel, but the first Falco book by Lindsey Davis is entitled "Silver Pigs". Then again, I know you're not a big fan of books set in ancient times.

And...more spying than crime, there's Ian Fleming's "Diamonds are Forever".

Hmm. I’m still thinking of your challenge but this one looks easier … still pondering. I read Gunshot Road which was great so Diamond Dove (Bernadette has already mentioned) is on my list.

Cool bathroom! Blogger can get very moody and it doesn’t like indenting text either.

Dorte H sagde ...

Yes, my bathroom did look swell on that particular day, didn´t it? ;D

Kelly: I am impressed that you remember so much about my taste in books. "Gunshot Road" is also on my TBR, and if I like it as much as everybody else, I´ll probably go for "Diamond Dove".

What a lovely water closet! Powder room! Whatever...
WHERE did you find the What's in a Name Challenge! I looked for it yesterday and couldn't find it. THANK YOU. I didn't finish this years but I do love picking books part.

Care: I didn´t find the challenge. I asked Beth - and let the challenge find me! And I also love that planning stage thinking I have all the time in the year to read those books :D
