Cozy Mystery Challenge

Just like last year, I have decided to participate in the Cozy Mystery Challenge, hosted by Kris of Not Enough Books.

The main rules are as follows:

1. The challenge runs April 1st, 2010 through September 30, 2010.

2. The goal is to read at least 6 cozy mysteries, one for each month. You can choose to read more, but you must read 6 in order to complete this challenge.

3. While you can overlap with other challenges, please try to have at least 2 of the books only count towards this challenge.

Apart from the first book which will be reviewed tomorrow, I have not made any definite plans for what to read, but I think I have one or two on my shelf.

Or would you like to help me by suggesting a book or an author?

Here is my wrap-up post from 2009 so you can see what I read last year.

Readers suggest:
L.C. Tyler
Caroline Graham
Elizabeth Spann Craig, Delicious and Suspicious
Jasper Fforde
Carola Dunn, the Daisy Dalrymple series

Good luck with the challenge. I think this bok looks so scary. I don't know exactly what you mean by cozy when used in this context but I'd love to see you review another book by L.C. Tyler.

Those garden gnomes look pretty scary!

Have you read any of the Midsomer Murder series by Caroline Graham? I have just one of them, Faithful Unto Death, which I'll be reading for this challenge.

Elizabeth Spann Craig sagde ...

Oh! Thanks for putting the book cover up there. :) I'm with Petty...it can look scary! I was at a book signing last weekend and kids kept coming up to the table, drawn to the book--and then looking scared! Wicked gnomes.... :)

Good luck with your challenge! Happy Easter...

Dorte - You chose a wonderful book to feature here : ). I think it's terrific that you're getting involved in that challenge again, and I wish you well with it. I will look forward to reading your updates on it, too. You know, Elizabeth Spann Craig's new mystery, Delicious and Suspicious comes out in July, I think. I'll bet that would be a good choice for later this year.

Tracy: the most scary thing about Elizabeth´s cozy mystery is probably the cover - though her ancient protagonist can be a bit overwhelming! I´ll look out for something by Tyler.

Margaret: you too! Good idea to read another Caroline Graham (I have read two in Danish but would like to try her in English as I am very fond of the TV series).

Elizabeth: I can see I didn´t even read it for my cozy mystery challenge, but Myrtle Clover is such a memorable protagonist! And my daughter still enjoys the word octogenarian.

Margot: another great suggestion. Thank you!

Oh, boy!! This looks like a fun challenge! I've already signed up and I look forward to seeing what you end up reading.

Thanks for letting us know about it.

Oh...and I like this cover. I think gnomes are pretty cute.

Great, Kelly!

And as you like the gnomes, I recommend reading Elizabeth´s excellent cozy. You´ll love the protagonist - and her army of garden gnomes.

Hi Dorte

You asked about suggesting a book or an author! Therefore, here are a few books that I came across when I was surfing the net. Maybe you already know below mentioned book! I think they all are "Mysteries".

•The Black Cat: Richard Jury Mystery

•Faithful Place: Tana French,
(Rob Ryan and Cassie Maddox,- book 3, July 2010

•Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris

•Fever Dream by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child

Cheers, Poly

Thank you, Poly.

I have read some Richard Jury mysteries, and they are certainly cozy. I am not sure I would call Tana French cozy, though, but I liked her debut very much, and I have the second on my shelf so I think I´ll read Faithful Place no matter whether it is cosy or not.

Hi Ann.

Nice to meet you.
I may buy a Caroline Graham one day, but I think I have all the books for my cozy mystery challenge on my shelf now.
