DJ´s Bait in the Box # 58
This is the author´s second crime novel.
“Ray got out of the car and walked round to the back bumper to inspect the damage. The Honda driver started yelling at him. ´You stupid, fucking twat, what did you think you were doing?´ English. Ray tried to think of something to say that would be non-confrontational, that would calm the guy down – you could see he was a pressure cooker waiting to blow, wanting to blow, bouncing on his feet like an out-of-condition heavyweight. Ray adopted a neutral stance, a neutral expression, but the he heard the crowd give a little collective ´Aah´ of horror and he registered the baseball bat that had suddenly appeared in the guy´s hand out of nowhere and thought, shit.”
The Rules:
If you recognize the quotation, or if you think you are able to guess who wrote it, please post a comment. Just leave a hint, do not spoil the fun by giving too much away. The book will be reviewed on Friday (if I have had time to write one).

Whilst no good as a 'quotation' detective, I would love to know more about your choice of 'tin' - where was the photo taken etc?
I think that the noun in the title of this one is an activity that should *not* have the result that the title describes?
Tracy, it was taken during our holiday in Edinburgh last summer. It is an old dove cote. (I´ll wait and see if other visitors can tell you exactly where it is to be found).
Maxine: yes, you could say that!
Dorte I deserve another clue.
Ah yes, the Corstorphine Doocot. Did you know that it appears in Sue Walker's book "The Burning".
So, Corstorphine is on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Is the story set in Edinburgh, by any chance?
I've been to Edinburgh...I think I have the same picture! Except I was there during February so the landscape looked a little different.
Oh...road rage. Scary!!

Mystery Writing is Murder
Dorte - If I'm right, this novel has the same title as a Rolling Stones song....
Dorte, I've turned this clue round and round in my head, but what is the good of suffering over the mystery? Instead, I should prefer to take at least one good turn around the structure in the photo.
Jose: I am sure you do, and I am glad Tim and Margot have done a good deed.
Elizabeth: road rage IS scary, and sometimes it spreads like ripples.
R.T.: I am sure your beating about the dovecot will prove beneficial :D
I was confused so I thought I would wait for more clues. Now I am very confused and clueless.
I always enjoy the photos you use for these posts. I've got some fun tins at my house. Would you like me to send you some pictures of them? Maybe one would work with a book you've read.
Kelly: I´d love to have some new pictures! And as you have figured out, I try to match book and tin somehow so you may not see them immediately. But they will appear one day!
Norman: poor you. I think Tim and R.T.´s clues may be the ones which are most transparent.
