I didn´t quite know what to expect. Perhaps not exactly tweed or pin-stripes, yet I had never dreamed of anything like this. I couldn´t prevent myself from staring at the odd display around us and wonder which kind of shop would sell such garments. ...

Dorte - This is *hysterical!* I really, really enjoyed it. There's a WalMart very near to where I live, so this post just struck home for me. I absolutely loved it! Oh, the way you describe the other customers is just priceless!
Very enjoyable, you certainly have a way with words.
What with all that flesh and undulating bottoms - anyone of us would feel an un-British sense of panic.

The remark about flesh is very real, by the way. In an evening class I went to decades ago there was this upper class woman who had been to the local swimming pool. "All that flesh," she shuddered :D
Margot: Oh, good I have struck a note you like. I have never been inside anything like WalMart so it took me so long time to find the inspiration for this one.
Exactly the way I felt the one time I was in a Walmart store. Lost, scared, incredulous.
I've been inside a WalMart once, and hope I never return. GREAT story!

What a keen sense of humor you have. I loved this story. You certainly do have a way with words. I'm so glad you participated in this fun Walmart Flash Fiction challenge. I think one of the most wonderful aspects to your story is that you got to include a phrase you heard decades ago that fit just perfectly...."All that flesh...." you captured it nicely!
