DJ´s Bait in the Box # 37

[This week´s bait box - a porcupine bird? - belongs to Dawn, She is Too Fond of Books, and it may tell you more about the characters of the book than you think]

This thriller is the author´s debut.

“I discovered the next piece of me at the bottom of a cliff, where I dragged Sarah´s dead body, bumping her head from rock to rock. Sarah, my best friend since we were little girls, who I´d betrayed and murdered.

And then, in the darkness of my parents´ attic, I found the rest of me.”

The Rules:
If you recognize the quotation, or if you think you are able to guess who wrote it, please post a comment. Just leave a hint, do not spoil the fun by giving too much away. The book will be reviewed on Friday.

Dorte - I think I might know where this comes from. The author of it has something in common with the author of your last "Bait-in-the-Box" quote. (I can never tell if these hints are too obscure - don't want to give anything away...)

Margot: basically you can do anything but mention the title and the author´s name. I think your hint is very fine. (I hadn´t thought about that, but you are absolutely right).

If it should happen that no one else comes along who can guess the book, you are always welcome to leave a second hint later.

The publicists for this books more or less admitted from the start, I think, that it might not appeal so much to male readers. And they were right about that.

Dorte the problem is that I read too many blogs written by charming ladies, and this quote was used previously by one of them.
The surname is almost presidential.
When I did your bait 36 I was having my ears syringed now with bait 37 I have just come back from the chiropodist having had a large section of big toe nail removed. Ears-Toes and a lot in between is not too good either apart from my memory.

Philip: you have a point, but whether you are a male or female reader, you have to read it with a pinch of salt & lots of humour :D

Dorte H sagde ...

Norman: almost presidential is a good clue!

And you must tell all these doctors not to remove essential parts (such as your charm and your sense of humour) ;)

That quote alone might keep me up at night! No guesses from me ... I'm glad you could use this odd little box; I'll have more coming.

Dorte H sagde ...

Dawn: odd boxes are just perfect for odd books, thank you!

I think this is from the first book by an author that Kerrie and I might claim as "ours" and Donna Moore might also claim as "hers"

I've lost count now - I think I'm up to 3 or 4 of these that I've actually known :)

Dorte H sagde ...

Bernadette; I am sure it is at least four!

Fine clue, and I hope you liked Margot´s :D

Wow! Okay, I don't recognize this AT ALL... but I've got to read it. Can't wait to find out...

Elizabeth: this story certainly begins in medias res. Glad it sounds tempting.
