DJ´s Bait in the Box # 62

[This pretty box belongs to Kerrie, Mysteries in Paradise]

I have a tasty tidbit for you this week. If you have read the novel, I am sure you will remember this quotation. And if not, I am sure you will want to:

“He felt blood matting his thin hair, leaking onto his scalp. The stench of petrol burnt his sinuses, filled his throat with bile. He tasted the fumes, felt himself sucking their poison deep into his gut. Yet he couldn´t bring himself to shut his eyes and surrender to the dark. The fire cast a spell upon him, he was hypnotised by the horror, he found it impossible to wrench his gaze from his books as they shrivelled and died.”

The Rules:

If you recognize the quotation, or if you think you are able to guess who wrote it, please post a comment. Just leave a hint, do not spoil the fun by giving too much away. The book will probably be reviewed on Friday.

What a co-incidence! I'm on Chapter Five of this book, having read the atmospheric and shocking predicament of the person quoted, I recognize it from the First Chapter.
What an opener to the Chapter too! i.e.'The books were burning.'
I'm enjoying this latest thriller, especially as a follow-up to the one written before in this series.
I look forward to your review.

What a pretty box!

I do remember it! I haven't had enough coffee yet to give a hint, though. Looking forward to the review...

I've not read it, but it sounds like a horror story if the books are burning!!!

Hi Linda.
I think (I hope) many people are reading or have read this fine novel!

Elizabeth: I rushed through it so now I will just have to write the review.

Kelly: it does sound horrid, but the murders are not worse than in other crime novels :D

Linda P sagde ...

That's good! I'm sure I will have completed by the time you review as I'm engrossed.
Also glad you are back on the internet after your problems with your PC!

I'm waiting for your review Dorte. It looks promising.

Linda: yes, it makes life much easier - I have not quite finished adding programmes, dictionaries etc.

Jose: it is a first rate crime story!

Louise sagde ...

Nope, didn't read that one :o) I'm almost sure.

Louise: it is quite difficult to have read this one and forgotten it already so you probably haven´t ;)
