April - mowing forward or back?

When it comes to reading, April was a very successful month. I reviewed eleven novels, most of them excellent books I enjoyed a lot.

On the other hand, I have wasted much time on computer problems and other time consuming activities lately, and instead of writing fiction, I have moved backwards, so to speak. I am in the process of editing a Danish manuscript, and this week I have removed c 500 words (if I am not mistaken, I have removed quantity and added to the quality, but who knows).

But I have also made some decisions about the plot and my protagonist so thanks to you I think I am on the right track.

And when it comes to my reading challenges, things are going so well that I have decided to join a fourth, The Scandinavian Reading Challenge 2010, hosted by Amy of The Black Sheep Dances. (Well, it shouldn´t be too difficult either, after two days with a sore throat I have read half of the six novels).

Dorte - I am so impressed! Despite your computer and other problems, you've made such progress on those challenges. And you've decided what to do about your protagonist, and that's wonderful. You've been so productive.

Sorry to hear about your sore throat, I hope it's better soon.

4 challenges as well as all the blogging and other things you are involved with - I'm so impressed. Good luck with them all.

You had a very productive month despite the minor setbacks!! I'm also impressed with your progress on your challenges.

Sure hope the sore throat is better today. That's no fun!

Yay for your editing triumph! We will definitely say you have 'removed quantity and added to the quality'. Positive attitude, and all that.

Margot: it only proves that when all my plans fall apart, I resort to reading :D

Tracy: I only join challenges I am quite certain I can finish, and as I have read more than half the books in four months, I am not worried.

Kelly: my throat hurts less, thank you, but I am so tiiiiired.

Julia: I also prefer to see it that way.

Oh, to be a writer is not just fame and fortune :-)

Fantastic that you keep on fighting with the book.

Dorte H sagde ...

Søren: lots of fame but not much fortune.

I noticed recently, that Lotte and Søren Hammer sent their manuscript to Gyldendal who rejected it. Then they sent it to several other publishers, worked on it, and sent it back to Gyldendal who accepted it after two years´ work.

So you see, as long as Gyldendal hasn´t rejected it twice, there is still a chance :D

Lots of brilliant work were rejected by publishers. History will judge them!

Strange system in a way, that to reach thousands or millions of readers, a writer have to pursuade one reader (the publisher) first.

Hi Dorte

Gee, you are just such a working-writer bee! No wonder you are “so tiiiiired”! I gather that you just love reading and writing, but...!
Slow down Lady! Do not forget to go out, smell the roses and enjoy the spring.

Just a little notice refer the typing error by the computer.
 “Australasia”, you know its Australia
 “NZ READ”, it is not part of Australia. If you want to place New Zealand in a group, it belongs to "The Pacific" or South Pacific Ocean.
Here is an interesting geography link: http://geography.about.com/library/cia/blcpacific.htm

Cheers, Poly

Søren: I know, and that is why I am not giving up.

Patti: thank you.

Poly: thank you.

Australasia is another name for the continent Oceania.

Ups, Dorte. And thank you for letting me know. ^ - ^ I didn't know. I went into Wikipedia, and I apologize for being to fast. <3

Dorte H sagde ...

Poly: I didn´t know either until I made the Global Reading Challenge when some of my clever readers told me :D

Awesome job on the challenges. I'm making okay progress -- finished 3, failed 1, and have 15-20 I'm working on! I have just South America for your Global Challenge -- I have three books picked out, I just need to get reading.

Beth: I know I am a bad loser so I don´t sign up unless I am quite sure I can finish with flying colours! :D
