Part of it is reservation, part of it that we don´t communicate in the same way as e.g. my British friends.Dorte Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14535044092722418173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3725252734697392575.post-18347159230489288662011-05-06T09:11:46.724+01:002011-05-06T09:11:46.724+01:00Dorte: We had a very good week in Denmark. The Danish one has not been translated, and as it is her weakest novel so far you won´t miss that much (in my opinion).Dorte Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14535044092722418173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3725252734697392575.post-641118666020058552011-05-03T20:47:14.213+01:002011-05-03T20:47:14.213+01:00P for Prison. And although Jeffery Deaver's Sleeping Doll and Martin Clark's The Legal Limit don't focus on life in prison for their main plots, they both depict what prison life does to people and how people live there.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3725252734697392575.post-52253022683767174832011-05-03T12:04:02.869+01:002011-05-03T12:04:02.869+01:00Three Seconds is set largely in a prison; one lear...Three Seconds is set largely in a prison; one learns a few details one wished one had not such as how/where to hide drugs. It's an exciting book, though stretches credibility (eg the part about the prison library lending system).

Another book featuring strong prison scenes is Leigh Giarratano's Black Ice- not a very realistic read either (rather Martina Cole-y) but fast-paced.

Perhaps the best novel I've read about prison is After the Fire by Karen Campbell, a superb indictment of the Scottish criminal justice system, and in particular how prison fails completely to rehabilitate or reform people. It's a serious book and well worth a read.Maxine Clarkehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06628509319992204770noreply@blogger.com
